Expectant parents’ perspectives on the influence of a single antenatal relaxation class: A qualitative study

This study explores the perspectives of expectant parents on influence a single antenatal class incorporating education childbirth physiology and relaxation techniques. The data for this qualitative descriptive were collected via in-depth interviews with six women three birth partners. An enhanced understanding formed ‘different way thinking’ about childbirth, ‘inspired motivated’ exertion learnt techniques which led to ‘deep sense calmness’ associated increased confidence reduced fear. However, reaching such calmness during required ‘space relaxation’ was influenced by attendants. overarching theme ‘a positive outlook’ towards identified. Including range may reduce fear, empower prospective positively their experiences pregnancy childbirth.
